If you don't know me by now, you won't want to know me. That said, assuming you ignored that warning (which isn't wise, but who am I to judge), I don't know why you're here, but welcome to my journal info. Anything you want to know about me can likely be found in the information below.
A bit of background info on this journal: My old journal, username born_dead, has been discontinued for many reasons, some obvious and some not. Anyone who comments in this journal that is part of those reasons will be banned without discussion. Yes, I'm an ass, thank you for noticing.
Now about me. I'm 19 and I'm rotting in a hole in east Texas. Actually, rotting is Kaylen's job. He sits on his ass all day reading LOTR, playing Everquest and NWN, leeches off of his parents, whines when he doesn't get what he wants, uses people, womanizes, lies, cheats... anyway, this is my info, not his, so fuck him, enough about his worthless ass. Physically, I stand 6'2"-6'3" and weigh around 190-200 pounds. My eyes tend to change color, but usually range from a light green-blue to a hazel-like shade. My hair has gone through many incantations, and it is currently the same boring dark brown I've had since I was about 9. The length is progressing nicely, though.
Moving right along... I've been on the Internet since mid-1999, and I readily admit my addiction, although I find time to hold down a job between sessions of IRC mayhem. Also worked into my schedule when possible:
- music... I must have music no matter what, and if I'm not listening to it I'm making it. I'm a drummer in a band called Sinthesis. We play a lot of different stuff, ranging mostly from hardcore to death metal. In terms of musical interest, I'll give most anything a listen except country, although I do have a clear-cut preference for metal and trance. I can honestly say, however, that I have the most varied musical interests of anyone I know, ranging from Michelle Branch to Deicide, KMFDM to Run-DMC, Metallica to the Final Fantasy VIII piano collection, Pantera to Ryan Cramer. All over the map, basically. And while we're on the subject of music, too many musical icons, past, present and future, have passed away before their time. Rest in peace Layne Staley, Kurt Cobain, Dave Williams, Cliff Burton, Jam Master Jay, Jimi Hendrix, Chuck Schuldinger, and any others I forgot.
- gaming... I am one of the most hardcore old-school (pre-16 bit) gamers you will find anywhere. I grew up on Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, Mario Bros. (the original with the POW block and all that) and the like, and while today's games are fun, nothing can compare to the hours I wasted in my childhood. At the age of 2 I had an Atari 2600 joystick in my hand, so gaming has essentially been in my life from the start. Classic games I love include Contra, Metroid, Zelda, Super Mario Bros., Pong (still good fun after 30 years), Centipede, Missile Command, Ninja Gaiden, Sinistar, Robotron, Joust, Defender, Tetris, all incarnations of Pac-Man, Donkey Kong... I could go on for days, probably literally, so we'll move on. In terms of modern games, I can make do with a round of Final Fantasy VII/VIII, Armored Core or the like, but I prefer lesser-known and lesser-respected RPG's like Star Ocean: The Second Story (often overlooked because most people prefer Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete) and SaGa Frontier, which flopped because it didn't have the Final Fantasy name. Stupid mindless Square kiddies... anyway. Final Fantasy V, IX and X suck, so don't even get me started on those.
- friends... online ones because you don't befriend real people in a town with a population of 850. I've learned that the hard way. Fuck up and the entire town knows. In any case, online friends are pretty much what keep me going. Coming home from work and engaging in mindless IRC chaos makes my day. There isn't much missing from online friends in comparison to real-life ones, other than the lack of physical contact. Which is a good thing, since I'm a clinically depressed mild schizophrenic and thus would probably beat the shit out of them or something equally inane. They have feelings, unique personalities (complete with quirks), everything. I do have a select group of best friends who I will talk to about pretty much anything. These include Rabid, Mog, Brian, Cortney, Ajil, Cieara and Heather. Note that I've known most of these people for at least two years, so if you were hoping to make the list, either I forgot you because I'm tired or I don't know you well enough.
On a side note, if you're into IRC and want to stop by, I am a technical/server co-administrator on the DynastyNet IRC network and would appreciate a visit. The address is irc.dynastynet.net, the channel is #Infinity or #FF7H. If you are homosexual and/or are easily offended by homophobic terms being loosely tossed around the channels, I suggest you lighten up or stay away. We mean it all in the name of fun, and we don't want to offend anyone who doesn't deserve it. We understand that "fag" and the like are recognized as homophobic terms, but we do have a network administrator who happens to be homosexual and he's not a bad guy at all. I guess in short, don't be offended by our stupidity.
- sports... yes, I am a sports nerd. Watching, mainly, but I do participate in basketball or football games once in a while. I'm into basketball, hockey, football, and I would be into baseball if the MLB would do something about the Yankees buying their way into the World Series every year. Pieces of shit. Whatever. Let's move on.
- movies... call it lame or whatever you want, but I'm a huge fan of low-budget 80's horror flicks. My favorites include the Halloween series, Children of the Corn, and The Burning, a little-known Friday the 13th ripoff. Clone or not, it's worth a view. Modern movie-wise, call me an oddball, but my interests are all over the map, much like my musical tastes. However, one movie does stand out as my modern favorite: The Craft. Fake, yes. But who cares? It was entertaining and that's what movies should be. Also topping my list of favorites are Blair Witch 2: Book of Shadows (the original sucked, in my opinion) and Cecil B. Demented (the source of my recent outbursts of "WAKE UP KIDS! LET'S MAKE A MUTHAFUCKIN MOVIE!")
I guess that's pretty much it. I apologize if this is long and drawn-out, but I figure you should learn the basics about me before you add me to your friends list or contact me or whatever. Speaking of contacting me, I keep my e-mail address, AIM name, ICQ number and Yahoo! Messenger ID hidden. If you want them, ask for them. I hope you enjoyed wasting 5+ minutes of your time reading about my boring life.
By the way...
